Parashurama went to Mount Kailash to pay his respects to Shiva, but Ganesha stopped him, claiming his father was sleeping with his mother and he didn’t want Parashurama interfering on their amorous activities. Because Parashurama was enraged that he couldn’t see Shiva, he began fighting Ganesha. 

Parashurama launched himself at Ganesha with his axe, and Ganesha (knowing that the axe had been provided to him by Shiva) permitted himself to be struck and lost his tusk as a result. How did Lord Ganesha die?

Ganapati was riding his mouse Dinka home after returning from the feast at Kubera’s palace. That night there was a full moon. Dinka saw a snake while riding and retreated behind a bush. Ganapati collapsed on the ground, his stomach ripped apart.
